A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the LORD. Psalm 122:1
What a wonderful opportunity we have before us this week! First, a word of thanks is fitting. So many people have put in a great deal of effort preparing for this week of Vacation Bible School. So much goes on behind the scenes. Many faithful folks have given of their time and exercised their talents to do all the things needed for this week to be a blessing to all who attend. They don’t do this for recognition but because they truly love to serve. God sees and He will remember the earnest efforts put forth. Matthew 6:4 reads, “That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”
We are blessed to have an opportunity to spend time with members from other congregations nearby. I can think of no greater act of unity than coming together with those of like precious faith to teach the Word to folks of all ages. In so doing, we strengthen the bond throughout the brotherhood. 1 Peter 3:8 says, “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.” And in doing so, we exemplify true unity only found in Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:10 tells us, “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
While Vacation Bible School is designed in a way to particularly appeal to younger folks, all can and will benefit. We are so thankful to have Brother Eric back this year teaching adults. He is an outstanding teacher of the Bible and all will be benefitted. Those who are teaching the young people have been working for weeks preparing. They have such a precious and sometimes trying task but we know that they have the opportunity to sow a seed of truth in the hearts of the young and will be giving them a foundation that they can build on in this life and the one to come.
This week will be busy. We’ll be tired when it’s done but the blessings of giving time to come together and study will surely be worth it all.
